Have You Ever Wondered?
This post is going to start out with a little TMI, but hang with me as I have a point I will eventually get to.
Last night after I showered, I didn’t bother putting on deodorant. After all, I was just going to bed and didn’t plan on doing much sweating. When I woke up this morning, I started cleaning and getting my niece and nephew ready to go home after their two week visit. Again, failed to put on deodorant. Needless to say, but I will, by the time 3 o’clock rolled around and I hopped in to get clean again, I was pretty ripe. (Please hang with me. I know it’s an unpleasant thought.)
While I was getting ready I started thinking about Jesus, and wondering if those in his day were stinky. They didn’t have deodorant and anti-persperant; and although scented oils were available, I’m guessing not everyone could afford them. Were they just used to the smell? Or maybe just maybe, they didn’t stink that badly.
Here is my thought, do we emit more odors because of all of the preservative laden, chemical filled, and over processed food we eat? What would happen to me if I only ate fruits and veggies for 30 days? As much as I wanted, but only fruits, veggies and lets throw in some nuts for good measure.
Here is my 30 day challenge to myself (and anyone interested in the experiment): from July 16th-Aug. 16th, I’m only eating fruits, nuts and veggies. I will add salt and pepper as spices or dressing of olive oil and vinegar…but I’ll get organic.
Don’t know what will happen, but I’ll keep a day by day post. The first week ought to be pretty ugly with caffeine headaches and all.
Any takers?
OK my friend… that is a big risk! I think the first week will be ugly b/c you are going to STINK to high heaven!!! Especially since you are a runner!
I will be curious to know your results and support your quirkiness 1000%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love ya!
I used to think that I stunk.
But I have changed my eating habits for the last 6 months. Low on junk and hydronated oils and refined sugars.
Girls now say I don’t stink when I sweat. I smell neutral. That is a far cry from where I was at.
I’ve been reading up on natural deodorants b/c of the effects of the ingredients in deo. One article said when you aren’t wearing deo your pores actually open up and release the chemicals that your deo has been clogging so if you normally wear anti persperant then it clogs the stink(and toxins your body is trying to release) in and when you don’t wear it the flood gates open. They said it takes a few days to completely get to your full stink out wearing no deo then when you use natural deo it works!..did any of that make sense?? The stuff I’m test running now= http://www.bubbleandbee.com/
Let me pray about it.
Still praying.
Um, can I get back with you say on July 15th?
Love you.
Hey Friend!
I will join you. Besides that is pretty much what I eat anyway or have for the last year. I still will have a little chicken at times but other than that….beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruit, whole grains, veggies are my staples. I will jump on the bandwagon with ya girl!
Oh and by the way for seven years now my husband and I have used a natural deoderant that is made in Kerrville, Texas. We buy it at the Good Earth health food store in Edmond.
Richelle–I’m not going to forgo deodorant! Just the junky food. I don’t plan on stinking. Maybe just smelling like grapefruit.
There you go again being all “challenging”. I’m thinking about this one. although if I do it I’m adding in brown rice for roughage.
Only fruits and vegs? Not beans, rice, oats, etc?
Are you only going to eat organic?
I might do it. Let me think about it.
Lori- I think I will have to do some deeper thinking and post some guidelines. I’m going to go with yes on rice or anything where you can read, understand and know what the ingredients are. And nothing white –just whole wheat.
I’ll get back to you on it!
I can read and understand lots of labels.
Bring on the 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphino-mu-hydroxotetratfluoroborate!
not that I’d EAT that, mind you.
Just to be clear.
You know what’s funny is that Ben and I have been talking about eating a little more this way. We think maybe we should start acting a little more grown up instead of just eating whatever we want. (He just had a colonocopy. there’s nothing like a video camera looking at your insides to make you re-think your diet.) I’m actually looking into a book called “Eat to Live” that is apparently vegan friendly. A little bit of chicken and fish are part of the diet, but it’s mainly vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes.
I don’t think we could do it hard core at one time though. I was thinking I’d start with a meal a week and then building from there. So I’m gonna say no on the challenge but I will watch it closely.
My mom quit sugar for one month in the 70’s (fell off the wagon to a bowl of m&m’s); she claims the most impressive side effect was no b.o.
Hmm this actually sounds like an interesting challenge…my kids are still in Florida right now and I HATE cooking for just me so this should be easy….except I am very strange and I LOVE veggies but I prefer my fruits in a cobbler…I CAN do nuts…hmm wonder if I can live off veggies and nuts with the occasional banana since I can tolerate them??…I might just do this NOW while they are gone! I will let you know;-)
